From Tom Hanks to Prince Charles, many public figures have been open about their exposure to COVID-19. Afterall, pandemic knows no bounds!

The COVID-19 pandemic has mushroomed to at least 170 countries, with 532,263 cases and 24,090 deaths as marked on 27th March 2020. NBA stars, members of the British Royal Family, award-winning stars, religious teachers, members of Congress, musicians are among thousands who have tested positive for COVID-19. They are going public with their diagnoses, shared updates on symptoms, many give a day-wise brief of how it feels that has helped many to self-diagnose the infection

Here’s a list of every public figure who announced that they have the virus.

Actors and Celebrities

1. Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson

Tom Hanks and his wife, singer and actress Rita Wilson, both announced they have been tested positive for the COVID-19 virus on 11th march. The couple was in Australia when they started developing symptoms and went for coronavirus test immediately. 

2. Olga Kurylenko

The leading lady in the James Bond film Quantum of Solace also has been tested positive for the virus. The actress revealed it on 15th March on her post on Instagram. She mentioned her symptoms to create awareness amongst her fans.

3. Luis Sepulveda

Chilean writer, Luis Sepulveda has also been infected by the virus. He developed symptoms in February. He must have been infected after returning from the literary festival held in Portugal.

4. Idris Elba

On 16th March, Idris Ilba posted a comprehensive video on his Instagram stating his positive test reports for the COVId-19 virus. He assured his fans that he was doing fine. A few days later his wife, Sabrina Dhowre Elba also tested positive for the virus.

5. Kristofer Hivju

Tormund from the famous TV series “game of thrones” also posted on 16 March that he had been infected by a coronavirus. The actor is presently in good health. Kristofer Hivju suffered from mild symptoms and decided to go for tests to be on the safer side. The 41 years old actor urged people to be cautious and take every possible measure to keep the virus at bay.

6. Daniel Dae Kim

Well known for his role in “Hawaii Five-0,”  and “Lost”, Daniel Dae Kim posted on Instagram regarding his positive test reports for the virus. The actor was currently shooting in New York for a medical drama wherein he was playing the role of a doctor during a global pandemic. Mr. Kim is currently in his home in Hawaii and urged people to stop prejudicing against Asians for spreading the virus.

7. Placido Domingo

This Spanish Opera Singer has been tested positive for the virus on March 22. Since then, he has gone into self-isolation with family.

Public Figures

1. Prince Charles

Prince Charles has also been tested positive for the virus. The 71-year-old eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II experienced mild cold symptoms. The prince remains in good health and is currently self-isolation in their home in Scotland.

2. Borris Johnson

The British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson has also been tested positive for novel coronavirus. He is currently in isolation and will continue his duties via remote services as the situation in the UK needs to be monitored closely.

3. Sophie Grégoire Trudeau

The wife of Canada’s prime minister Justin Trudeau has been infected by the virus. Sophie Grégoire Trudeau is currently in self-isolation and taking all the necessary precautions to contain the virus. Justin Trudeau decided to work from home for 14 days in effect from 12th March.

4. Rand Paul: 

Senator Rand Paul is the third member of Congress to be tested positive for the virus. Senator experienced symptoms and decided to get tested given the travel history. He has been in self-quarantine since and made sure no staff comes in contact with him.

5. Carmen Calvo: 

The deputy prime minister of Spain, Carmen Calvo has also caught the COVID-19 virus. The announcement was made on March 25.

6. Abba Kyari:


The chief of Nigerian president has also tested positive for the pandemic causing virus. The influential chief currently in his 70’s got his reports on March 24. He is one of the most important officials of the President.

7. Prince Albert:

Monaco’s Prince has announced his exposure to the novel coronavirus. He has worrying symptoms as of now. The prince is currently working from his private apartments.

8. Franck Riester: 

The French culture minister decided to work from his home in Paris after being affected by the COVID-19 virus. France is currently in lockdown due to the great exposure of the virus.

9. Begona Gomez:

The wife of Spani’s prime minister has been tested positive for novel coronavirus. Both prime minister and his wife remain in good health. 

8. Nadine Dorries: 

The first British politician to come in contact with COVID-19 is Nadine Dorries. It was announced on March 10.

9. Jeremy Issacharoff:

Israel’s ambassador to Germany has been tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The announcement was made on March 17 by the Israeli Foreign Ministry. 

Athletes

1. Jason Collins

Jason Collins was declared positive for coronavirus on March 24. 

The NBA player said he might have caught the virus during the Memphis Grizzlies hosted by the Nets.

2. Marco Sportiello: 

The goalkeeper of the Italian football team has also been tested positive for the virus on March 24.

3. Ottawa Senators:

One of the Ottawa senator players has caught the COVID-19 Virus, identity withheld. The player developed minor symptoms of the virus and is currently in self-isolation.

4. Blaise Matuidi: 

The France and  Juventus midfielder also tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The official statement came out on 17th March. The player is currently in self-isolation and has not developed any symptoms for now.

5. Callum Hudson-Odoi:

The Chelsea Football Club player announced on his Instagram that he had been tested positive for the virus. The player is currently in self-isolation and taking all positive steps to contain the virus.

6. Fernando Gaviria: 

Fernando Gaviria, Columbian cyclist also tested positive for COVID-19. He had come in contact with the virus during an event in the UAE. He is currently being treated in the hospital in the Gulf nation.

7. Jason Collins:

This retired NBA player came out on twitter on March 24 to announce his reports. The senior player belives he might give caught it on the trip to NYC. He developed headaches, cough, and fever and immediately decided to get tested.
